New regulations applicable to the BCPNP's Skills Immigration stream

The province of British Columbia introduced new regulations applicable to the BCPNP's Skills Immigration stream on March 10, 2022, prioritizing applications by healthcare professionals and early childhood educators.

The province replaced targeted invitations to apply with registration points awarded for occupations with high demand in its Labour Market Outlook on March 10, 2022. The new instructions clarify employer requirements and other changes to the Skills Immigration categories.

The province will conduct general draws for other skilled and semi-skilled workers who meet program criteria based on various factors that support government priorities. The Health Care Professional category has been replaced with the Health Authority category, which is open to all occupations employed by a health authority.

Workers in management occupations (grouped under Skill Type 0 in the NOC) can only register/apply under the Skilled Worker categories. However, management occupations are not eligible under the International Graduates categories.

Under the Skilled Worker category, the requirement of direct experience is replaced with two years of skilled experience.
