The government of Canada announced new instructions regarding the transition of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) on December 31, 2021. The AIPP closed on December 31, 2021, with the expiration of the pilot bilateral agreements.
However, the Ministerial Instructions (MIs) for the pilot will expire on March 5, 2022, which will allow IRCC to continue to accept pilot applications until that date. This will ensure the processing of the applications beyond the due date, as long as the complete applications will be received by March 5, 2022.
As of March 6, 2022, the government will accept PR applications under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). Those who are eligible to apply are foreign nationals who have the ability to become economically established in Atlantic Canada. Also for those who intend to reside in a province in the Atlantic region, and meet all of the following "pass or fail" criteria:
minimum education requirements
minimum work experience in a qualifying occupation within the 3 years before the date of application including: the employment requirements relevant for the occupation identified in the job offer, as listed in the National Occupation Classification (NOC) description
minimum job offer requirements
Applicants for permanent residence under the AIPP must submit their applications online or on paper to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) - Sydney.
