New applications for the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot

New applications for the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot

The government of Canada accepted more than 2,750 applications under the Home Child Care Provider Pilot (HCCPP) as of January 17, 2022. The program is now closed to new applications for 2022.

The government will return additional applications and refund paid fees. Applicants will be able to apply for this Pilot starting January 1, 2023. The Home Support Worker Pilot (HSWP) still receives new applications for the 2022 cap.

For 2022, the government is planning to accept up to 2,750 applications for this pilot. In case you have applied for the pilot program already, you do not need to contact the IRCC about your application. However, they will send you a notification letter as soon as possible to confirm they have received your application. Due to the pandemic, it may take longer than usual to get the letter.

The Home Child Care Provider Pilot and the Home Support Worker Pilot are 5-year pilot programs that allow qualified caregivers and their family members to come to Canada with the purpose of becoming permanent residents.

It is important to know that you may be able to apply for permanent residence through one of these pilots if you’ve been offered a job in Canada as a caregiver or have work experience in Canada as a caregiver.

Also, the application process will vary based on your situation and your work experience. Qualifying work experience means you have worked full-time in Canada in one of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) jobs.
