The province of Yukon to attract more tourists to the province

Yukon published a joint news release with the government of Canada, announcing the vast investment in the province’s tourism sector on May 27, 2022.

Both the provincial and Federal Governments made a combined investment of $1.95 million towards the Yukon Elevate Tourism Program (Elevate), which will also include an investment of $25,000 from the Tourism Industry Association of the Yukon.

The two-year project will cost approximately $1.9 million in total. The goal of Elevate is to assist tourism businesses and operators as they adjust and develop following the pandemic.

This investment supports both product and business adaptations as the government of Canada continues to work toward a sustainable approach to pandemic-related travel requirements.

Currently, the program has helped over 40 owners and operators adapt to changing opportunities or meet these new measures. The report also assists the industry in better understanding challenges and opportunities for the resurgence of travel in 2022 and beyond.

As a result of this investment, the government of Canada and the government of Yukon continue to support the tourism sector and local businesses.
