The College of Immigration has introduced a new Code of Professional Conduct

The College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) introduced a new Code of Professional Conduct on June 10, 2022.

The Code of Professional Conduct, which is now in force, was adopted by the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) upon signature. All Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) and Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors (RISIAs) must be licensed and abide by the Code of Professional Conduct.

The RCIC Code of Professional Ethics and the RISIA Code of Ethics have been replaced by the new Code. The updated guidelines make it clear that where a College By-law or Regulation contradicts the Code, the Code prevails.

The purpose of this Code is to supplement any conduct requirements imposed by the RISIA's employer, so that Students are better protected from unethical or incompetent behavior by RISIAs. The Code does not attempt to eliminate or reduce any of the requirements of the RISIA's employer.
