IRCC has approved more applications under the CUAET

The government of Canada updated the number of Ukrainian newcomers arriving in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET) on May 6, 2022.


Based on the latest update, 5,614 Ukrainians arrived in Canada by land, and an additional 19,031 arrived by air between January 1 and May 1, 2022 . Also, between March 17 and May 4, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) received 204,227 applications under the CUAET.


The applications of 91,482 Ukrainian nationals have been approved so far. The Canadian government is dedicated to supporting those affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, the government has established special programs to help thousands of Ukrainian nationals and their families find safety in Canada as part of their response to the crisis.


Through the CUAET, Ukrainian nationals and their family members can apply for a temporary resident visa to travel to and stay in temporarily in the country.
