Canada has introduced new instructions regarding in-Canada claims for refugee protection

The government of Canada introduced new instructions regarding in-Canada claims for refugee protection on April 26, 2022.

The Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) and the Global Case Management System (GCMS) have updated the Nova system to transfer and receive information via the electronic sharing between the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the IRB.

No later than June 30, 2022, IRCC, the CBSA, and the IRB will start using the new updated system. When the claimant submits their completed application through the Canadian Refugee Protection Portal or the paper-based alternative process, office staff must verify that the application is complete (or nearly complete).

Therefore, the IRCC staff will pull biographical information from the online application's dashboard and conduct an integrated search for each individual listed in the forms.
