Canada has introduced a program delivery update for family class applications

Ottawa has introduced a program delivery update for family class applications

The government of Canada published on June 23, 2022 about a new program delivery update for family class applications.

The new guidelines will assist immigration officers in assessing:

  • multiple applications

  • foreign sources of income

  • counting family size

  • family class applications with separated spouses

  • income requirements for sponsoring parents and grandparents

  • minimum income requirements for the 2020 and 2021 taxation years and co-signers

In addition, the instructions have been modified to assist officers in recognizing and processing sponsors who were formerly from Quebec but now live outside of the province.

A sponsor for the family class applications must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or Status Indian, at least 18 years of age, and resides in Canada (except in specific circumstances, see Sponsors residing abroad).
